With school in full swing I am always looking for new snacks to pack for the kids recess. They get tired of having the same old things so I was excited when Bud's Best Cookie's sent us several different varieties of their cookies. I was easily able to spice up snack time with Bud's Best Cookies! I was super surprised at just how many different varieties they actually have! Bud's Best Cookies started when as a boy of 12 years old, working in his aunt's bakery, Bud knew that someday he wanted to own his own cookie factory. He'd now been in the cookie business for more than fifty years.

We tried many different varieties (mostly pictured above) and we all had a different favorite but all agreed on one thing; Bud's Best Cookies are great! I preferred the Lemon Crèmes they had a wonderful cookie crunch and creamy lemony filling. Chris loves peanut butter and he really enjoyed the Chocolate Peanut Butter. Christian likes Orange and it is hard to find in a cookie he was very excited to try the Orange Bite Delights. Gavin likes all sweets so he tried a little of everyone's but settled on his favorite being the Candy'n Cookies he loved the little candy covered chocolate pieces.

We won one of the crafts included in their monthly subscription box!. This was the create a Bee Hive project from July's discovery box! Augusts' box will be a Green Energy Box (pictured below)!

The Bee Hive craft was like making a mini pinata. My kids enjoyed mixing the glue and water. It was a very simple project and the kids really had fun. I loved that the steps were so easy to follow; it was almost fool proof. I am not very crafty but love doing crafts with the kids. This was perfect for us. After we mixed the glue and water we blew up or balloon and began to dip the yellow tissue paper to create the hive.

Once we dipped the tissue paper and carefully wrapped it around the balloon we had to allow it to dry for several hours. My kids added glitter to their glue ix because they wanted a sparkly hive. You can easily improvise on a lot of these projects and make additions that fit your kids style! After the hive dried we had to paint black stripes around the hive and make our bees. The bees were made from wrapping yellow black and white for the wings around pencils. I was surprised at how much they actually looked like little bees! We then popped the inner balloon with one of the pipe cleaners and inserted our bees into the hive. Viola the finished Bee Hive below! Super simple but very fun! Green Kid's Crafts is perfect for a wonderful set of monthly crafts for the kids.

We took our Bee Hive one step further as you can see what we created is a mini pinata. The kids filled it with candy and trinkets and when their cousin's came for a visit we actually hung the hive up and they busted it. I was worried it wouldn't hold up to the candy but it did very well! It too 7 whacks to get it popped. The Green Kid's Crafts box i all about enjoying craft time, bonding as a family, learning and creating. The projects make for a great family experience!

123 Kids Fun App Review! #BacktoSchool

What apps do your kids play? As a mom of three I am learning more and more everyday about what apps are best for kids. I was recently introduced to 123 Kids Fun Alphabet a wonderful app from 123 Kids Fun. My sons have been playing this app for quite some time now and are really enjoying it. My boys are five and six and it is perfect for them.

123 Kids Fun Alphabet App teaches letters and small words to children. It uses fun kid friendly characters like the ant below to reinforce site words and aid in the teaching process. I would much rather my kids play an age appropriate app that teaches them in comparison to some of the apps that are targeted to kids that have really no meaning at all and no business being presented to children.

ABC Kids Fun Alphabet is perfect for on the go, long road trips, doctor's office visits when you are stuck in the waiting room or just down time at home. This is one of the apps my kids are excited to play because they call it the exception in our house. All learning apps approved by me do not count against my children's electronic time. They get one hour a day but in this case they can play as long as they want within reason as they are learning and having fun and the electronic device is the teacher. Apps like this make my job as a mommy that much easier.

My kids go back to school this week and this is the perfect app to get them ready and in the swing of things. With Lollapalooza closely approaching, Country Crock and I thought it only appropriate to share easy summer recipes – inspired by festival headliners – with you so can whip up some tasty treats as you jam out to your favorite bands in preparation for one of this summer’s hottest music festivals (even if you can’t make it to Chicago this year):Dancing works up a sweat. Get the energy you need to make it from dawn ‘til dusk with snacks that you can munch on in-between acts: Shut up and Dip (Spicy Honey Roasted Wings)– A remix of “Shut up and Dance” by Walk the Moon – Forget all your worries with these tasty wings – perfect for dipping– and so good they’ll leave you speechless.

Spicy Honey-Roasted Wings

• Makes 12 appetizers
• Prep Time 10 min
• Cook Time 1 hr

Ingredients:

• 3 lbs. chicken wings
• 2 Tbsp. Country Crock® Spread
• 1/3 cup hot pepper sauce (like Frank's Red Hot Sauce)
• 2 Tbsp. honey
• 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 425°. Spray bottom of broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray; set aside. Cut tips off chicken wings (save tips for soup). Cut wings in half at joint.
2. Arrange chicken in prepared pan. Bake 1 hour or until chicken is thoroughly cooked and crisp.
3. Meanwhile, combine melted Country Crock® Spread, hot pepper sauce, honey and salt in large bowl. Add cooked chicken wings; toss to coat.

Mind you I am not half as talented as the wonderful cooks Country Crock has but I made my own Spicy Honey Roasted Wings using Country Crock to get in the Lollapalooza spirit and they are amazing. I wanted to pick a recipe I thought would be easy for even the least experienced to make and also one that took few ingredients and would be cheap to make. Spicy Honey Roasted Wings are just the perfect summer treat. You could serve these as a tailgating appetizer, at a BBQ, summer party or any kind of get together.Wings are the universal food in my book; they are great for so many different occasions.Check out these other Lollapalooza inspired recipes and bake up your own Lollapalooza and Country Crock inspired goodness:
